Girl K | White Roses

New music from Chicago on the 2021-a-Day playlist today.

Girl K began as the solo stage name of Kathy Patino in March 2017 and became a full-fledged band later that year just prior to the release of Girl K’s first album Summer Court. A second album followed in 2019, and this new single White Roses just dropped this month.

This one walks a fine line between indie-rock and indie-pop: the guitar sound and building of intensity over the track leans more rock, but Patino’s sweet, airy vocals give this one a definite pop vibe. If you like the recently shared Store Front track or the Adult Books song shared here back in January, I think you’ll find something to like here too.
