Vancouver’s (well, I guess they are Toronto’s now, or maybe Vancouver’s again?) Tough Age, have been making and playing snappy, scrappy rock songs in various incarnations since the early 2010’s. Note: according to their Mint Records artist page, they are not a punk band.
This summer saw the release of their 4th album, Which Way Am I? With changing vocalists and musical styles across the album, no one song feels representative of the record. This track, My Life’s a Joke & I’m Throwing It Away mixes fast, energetic guitar and lyrics tinged with despondency, coming in at under 2 minutes. It’s the kind of not-punk that I like the most. I guess I’ll tag this one garage.
