With all the excellent music coming out of Australia these days, I’m genuinely surprised it’s taken me 20 posts to get to a band from Down Under. But, I hope that this fun, poppy-rocker from Sydney’s Sachet will have made it worth the wait.
Sachet released their 2nd full-length Nets back in April on Tenth Court records. Like many bands, they have been suffering the impacts of the Pandemic in playing and promoting the album, although their FaceBook page shows at least one recent show as Australia revels in the some mid-summer COVID control.
There’s lots to love on this album. From their Spotify bio, the album Nets “is a culmination of angular indie-pop songs… sweet but raw, with blasting riffs and noisy moments throughout.” This track shifts in structure from verses to chorus in a way that feels very unique. In the verses, each part (vocals and guitar in particular) stands on its own, but everything pulls together pleasingly in the chorus to a warm crescendo.
